The detector looks for table structure such as ruling lines and aligned cells. Text arranged in columns with spaces, or a table that exists only as part of a scanned image, doesn't register. For scans, run OCR PDF first; for loosely formatted text, PDF to Text gets you the raw content to tidy up by hand.
Each detected table gets its own worksheet, named Table 1 (Page 3), Table 2 (Page 5), and so on, so you can see which page it came from. A PDF with a single table produces one sheet called Table. Sheet names are cut at 31 characters because Excel allows no more.
No. Only the cell text is transferred; fonts, fills, borders, column widths, and merged cells aren't reproduced. Numbers may arrive as text cells, so if a column won't sum, select it and use Excel's Convert to Number prompt.
There are no page options; every page is scanned and all tables found are exported. If you only need one table, pull those pages into a separate PDF first, or use Extract Tables, which previews each table and lets you download them one at a time.
PDF to Excel packs every table into one .xlsx workbook with a sheet per table. PDF to CSV produces flat comma-separated files, and Extract Tables previews each table and offers per-table downloads in several formats. Pick Excel when you want everything in one workbook with page references.
If the file needs a password to open, the tool asks for it before extraction starts. The output .xlsx is not password-protected.
No. Table detection runs in a PDF engine loaded into your browser as WebAssembly, and the spreadsheet is built locally by a JavaScript library. Bank statements and invoices never leave your machine.
